Planned Giving for Petaluma Education

The Staff and Board of Directors of the Petaluma Educational Foundation welcome your interest in making a planned gift to our Foundation. As a non-profit, tax exempt organization, we have formulated an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) to assist our Board of Directors in effectively supervising, monitoring and evaluating the investments of our assets. The objectives of the Board have been established in conjunction with a comprehensive review of the current and projected financial requirements.

The objectives are:
1.  To maximize return within reasonable and prudent levels of risk.
2.  To maintain an appropriate asset allocation based on total return that is
compatible with our spending policy.
3.  To control costs of administering and managing the Foundation investments.

In making a gift to PEF, you may wish to consider the following assets as your contribution:
•  Cash
•  Publicly traded securities
•  Closely held stock
•  Real estate
•  Individual retirement funds
•  Life insurance
•  Remainder of a charitable trust

You may establish a fund with a current gift or a deferred gift that will come to the Foundation after your lifetime. Creating a fund is simple. We can discuss your philanthropic goals and help you design a fund. You may name your fund with your family name, or in memory of a loved one; some donors prefer to remain anonymous. We will work with you and your professional financial advisor or attorney.
The Endowment Fund continues to grow and our combined Managed Funds portfolio now exceeds $4 million. We are pleased that our donors share our interest in promoting excellence in education in our schools and feel confident that we manage funds wisely. Our Planned Giving Council, chaired by Chris Dobson, can help you with your "gift for the future”.
